Roy Gene Richardson of Lockhart, at 60 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. He was born September 2, 1954 in Beeville, TX to Charles Mangrum and Katherine Pearl Richardson. Gene was a hardworking, dedicated Christian man who loved spending time with family. He served in the Army from 1973 to 76 ending his tour in West Germany. He and Donna began their family having two sons, Justin Lee and Patrick Allen. Gene became a deacon while a member of Mineral Baptist Church at Mineral, Texas. An avid outdoorsman, Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing and cruising the beach in his Jeep. Adventurous by nature with an inventive mind, he excelled at welding, water well repair and as an elevator/escalator mechanic. He fulfilled his dream to live on a ranch where he produced his own hay, raised cattle and managed wildlife. Gene was preceded in death by his father Charles and his grandson Karek. Date of Birth: November 10, 1949 / Date of Death: May 1,   2015 Stephen John Kuhn, alias Bubba to his many friends, was welcomed into this world in Taylor, Texas, on November 10, 1949, by Bessie and Charles Kuhn, his youthful loving parents, and by big brother Joaquin, almost 10, big sister Pat, 5, and big sister Betty, 2. Before he was old enough to know it, our family of six moved to a farm at Brown’s Gin, south of Taylor, where as a young boy he had the freedom to range over the fields and pastures of the farm and countryside and to swim in the cattle tank. He started school at St. Mary’s in Taylor, where his three siblings had been settled in for ten   years. Stephen went to Hutto High in the 10th grade and graduated in 1967. Larry Ray Schaefer, age 66, died Monday April 27, 2015 at his residence in Lockhart. He was born September 30, 1948 in Lockhart, the son of the late Nolan Schaefer and Wanda (Borchert) Schaefer. He graduated from Lockhart High School in the Class of 1967 and received his Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas University in 1971. Larry married Sherry (Saragusa) Schaefer in Lockhart on March 5, 1983. Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He also loved to participate in his local coffee club and poker club with his friends of many years. Larry was an avid sports fan and often seen supporting his favorite team, the Texas A&M Aggies. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Schaefer of Lockhart; his sons, Jordan (Danielle) Schaefer of Marble Falls, Texas and Joshua Schaefer of San Marcos, Texas; three grandchildren, Kendall, Addisyn and Paisley of Marble Falls, Texas. On April 22, 2015, Maggie Lolita Roberson, RN age 81, went to be with our Heavenly Father as an angel in his kingdom. Lolita (her preferred name) was born August 4, 1933 the eldest child of Mable Lolita Gant and Rigdon Nephi Gant.  She married Charles Edward Roberson and became a mother to four children. Lolita grew up in a different era when opportunities for women were limited, especially poor women. She worked hard all of her life, finding professional success in nursing. As a grandmother, she finished first in her class in the Licensed Vocational Nursing program. Not satisfied, she became a Registered Nurse in the twilight of her career. She loved nursing and inspired several family members to that career. She was a kind and compassionate nurse who was loved and respected by the patients she cared for over the years. Lolita loved life and lived it to the fullest; she enjoyed traveling, fishing, shopping, painting, crocheting, reading, puzzles, bingo, animals and Sandy’s Ice Cream. Clifton Baze Cavaness, 71, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Clifton was born Sept. 23, 1943, in Mason, Texas to Baze and Grace Cavaness. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Andrews; son, Craig Cavaness; and daughter, Wendy Cavaness Clemon. He leaves behind his spouse, Shirley Cavaness; son, Guy Krenz and wife, Patricia, daughter, Tina and husband, Pete Morales; son, Tom Krenz and wife, Lezlie, all of Lockhart; grandchildren: Tracie, Jessica, Emily (Lee), Abraham (Yuri), Joshua, Anne Marie, Christopher, Zachary, Adam, McKade, Shamaury, Robert, Kallie Sue and Stephanie; and great-grandchildren: Abraham, Ivan, Cheyanne and Evan. He is also survived by his sister, Louise Guerish and husband, Junior; brother, Larry and wife, Pam, of Mason; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Faye Gibbs; brother-in-law, Kevin Andrews; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Laura Marie Kunze, age 87 of Creedmoor, passed away March 2, after a 2 year battle with Heart Disease. Laura was born in Niederwald, Texas on May 25, 1927. Laura did community work for 30 plus years with the VFW Post 8925 in Austin, where she raised money for Cancer Research. Laura enjoyed sewing, word search puzzles, and most of all, being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will miss her but know, because of our faith in God instilled in us, we will see her again. She was preceded in death by parents and loving husband Walter Kunze and several brother and sisters. Clarence Mitchell Newman, 90, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015. Clarence grew up in Wallace Nebraska raised by Jefferson and Lula Newman. On August 24, 1947 he married the love of his life, Maxine Babcock. They shared 62 years together. They raised three children in Highlands, Texas where they were longtime residents. Clarence was a veteran of the US Army and a graduate from the University of Houston. He worked at the Hughes Tool Corporation for 33 years. After retirement he enjoyed traveling around the country with his wife in their RV and spending time with family. They moved to Dale, Texas in 1998. Clarence was a true Renaissance man. In his life he taught ballroom dancing, played the piano beautifully, was an artist, played pen pal chess and was a pilot. Clarence was adopted at birth and a highlight of his life was meeting his biological sister Lorna Tortorigi and her family at the age of 90. Annmarie Niemann was born in Staton Island, NY on March 28, 1947. She graduated high school and went to college to receive her real estate license. Her and her family moved to Austin where she worked in real estate. She met Emil Niemann in 1980 and they got married January 23, 1981. She moved to Lockhart where she worked as a bookkeeper for Walmart for 17 years. In 1999, she was diagnosed with M.S. She quit working and enjoyed the rest of her life on the farm. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Halle, Sr. and her brother, Richard Halle, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Emil Niemann; children, Donna Niemann, James Niemann, Sandra Niemann, Kenneth Niemann, Johnny Niemann, Mizzte Niemann, Emil Niemann, Jr. and wife, Rachel, Clifton Niemann, and Genna Slusler; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Daniel Minjarez

Daniel Minjarez, 74, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2014.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He was born August 17, 1940 in San Antonio to Santos and Maria Minjarez.  After serving in the Army for eight years, Dan worked his way up from a host at the Tower of Americas in San Antonio to Division Manager of Jim’s Restaurants in Austin.  In 2005, he began a second career as a systems analyst for the Texas Department of Insurance, where he worked until his death. Dan is survived by his wife of 24 years, Renee Minjarez; sons, Daniel Minjarez, Jr., Thomas Dougherty and Sean Powell; daughters, Sylvia Crum, Robin Adnson and Lisa Hoyt; and grandchildren, John Lyon, Austin Brown, Dustin Schulze, Sabrina and Sean Powell, Jr., Emily and Kendall Dougherty, and Alice and Teddy Hoyt. He will be remembered for his love for his family, thirst for knowledge, kind spirit and his positive outlook on life.  To be in his presence was to feel joyful and treasured, and that is his legacy.
