Lorilla Lois Woods (nee Kelley), loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2016. She was born on September 1, 1917. She was preceded by her husband, Vernon; her parents Guy and Fannie Kelley; her brother Garland Ross, and her sister Frances. She is survived by her brother Guy Kelley, Jr. and wife Lanelle and their children Ray and Bonnie; her daughter Joyce Moore and husband George; their daughter Cheri and husband Bill Graham and their daughter Alexandra; their daughter Shelly and husband Bill Sartin and son Camron; her son Gary and his son Mark and wife Stacey and children Elijah and Olivia, and his daughter Kristin. Ben Lempa

Ben Lempa, our Pops, 86, was born on March 1, 1930. He passed away peacefully on July 23, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. Ben grew up on a farm where he learned his strong work ethic. He served 4 years in the United States Air Force at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. After the military, he worked for Caldwell County, J. D. Lay in the oil fields, and he loved working for Mr. Ernest Ewald. He then settled into a 30 year career with the US Postal Service. He met and married Lucille Joseph Lempa in 1964. They moved to Austin in 1970 to raise their family. After retirement, he went back to his roots raising cattle on his brother’s land in Lockhart. He loved old country music, western movies, and news/political talk shows. Because of his background with farming and ranching, he kept up to date with the weather. Alcario Q. Juarez, age 71, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 19th, 2016. He had his family by his side while he peacefully passed away joining his loved ones in Heaven. Alcario, also known as "Al'" was born on January 12, 1945 in Lockhart, Texas to Eduardo and Antonia Juarez. He was the youngest of eight children. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Meliton Juarez, Juan Juarez, Timoteo Juarez, Roman Juarez, Romalda Rodriguez and Cipriano Juarez. Al Juarez is survived by his beloved wife Mary Louise Juarez and daughters; Lisa Ancira (Tom), Flora Guerrero and Jessica Tamayo (Peter). Al is also survived by his sister Eleanor Sillero and nephew James Juarez; grandchildren: Millicent Martinez, Tanya Guerrero, Deserae Martinez, Armando Guerrero III, Tristan Flores, Andre Guerrero, Augustine Guerrero, Tyler Tamayo, Trey Tamayo and Ryan Tamayo; great grandchildren: Amery Hernandez and Ethan Flores. Emma Lue Mohle

Emma Lue Sultemeier Mohle, 89, of Lockhart passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, surrounded by her loving family. Emma Lue was born February 25, 1927, in the Blanco County community of Sandy, the 10th child of A.D. and Emma Sultemeier.  After graduating from high school early, Emma Lue taught in Blanco County while attending the University of Texas for her undergraduate degree.  Emma Lue then went on to complete her graduate degree in business from Texas Tech University. Upon graduation, Emma Lue returned to Blanco County to teach in Johnson City.  While teaching, she met and married Paul H. Mohle.  After time with the Soil Conservation Service in Childress Texas, the couple returned to Paul's hometown of Lockhart where Emma Lue continued to teach for the next 31 years.  After retiring, she and Paul enjoyed many years of traveling, time with family, dancing, dominoes, and active service with many church and civic groups. Kenneth Edgar Ewald

Kenneth Edgar Ewald left this earthly life for his eternal home in Heaven on July 17, 2016 at the age of 69.  He was born January 16, 1947 in Lockhart, TX where he lived most of his life until he moved to his beloved house in Martindale. Ken graduated from Lockhart High School in 1965, where he was known for his fast sports cars.  In 1972, he married Pamela Sue Cooper and they spent the next 44 years together, with hardly a day apart, until his passing.  He enjoyed traveling, eating in his favorite restaurants, being surrounded by his favorite pets, and being Poppy to his grandchildren. Ken is survived by his wife Pam, his daughter Courtney Cardosa and husband Daryl of Austin, his four grandchildren, Colton, Kensley, Cline, and Kate Cardosa all of Austin, and his sister Barbara Buckner and husband Danny.  He was preceded in death by his mother Viola Halliburton and step-father Larkin Halliburton. On July 5, 2016, surrounded by his wife Angela and his loving family, Juan J. Alvarez walked into the Light of God to everlasting life. Juan J. Alvarez was born on September 30, 1943 to Manuel and Evita J. Alvarez in Concordia, Coahuila, Mexico. On December 11, 1961, he married the love of his life, Angela DeLeon Alvarez and they shared 54 years and 5 children, 15 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Juan retired in September 2009 from Centex Materials after 35 years of service where he worked as a Plant Foreman.  He was honored to serve as an Usher at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Martindale, Texas and attended Mass faithfully throughout his life. Melvin H. Bain, Jr., 92, of Luling, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Texan Nursing and Rehab of Gonzales, Texas.  He was born on October 24, 1923 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Melvin H. Bain, Sr. and Rubye Hoffman Bain. Melvin is survived by son, Don Melvin Bain, his wife, Susan, of Devon, Pennsylvania; son Ken Bain and wife, Stacie, of Santa Fe, Texas; brother David Harold Bain Sr. of Center, Texas; and sister Mary Wendland of New Braunfels, Texas.  Melvin has one granddaughter, Lauren Bain of Devon, Pennsylvania.  Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Lura Glynn Mercer Bain after 65 years of marriage.  Melvin is also survived by many close friends and extended family, too numerous to mention. Linda Mae Meador Lucksinger went to join her heavenly father on July 4, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.  To know Linda was to love her and she will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.  Linda was born on July 24, 1942, to Alvin W. Meador and Julia (Judy) Allen Meador in Smithville, Texas.  They moved to Austin when Linda was three and she lived here most of her life. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching her sports, especially the Longhorns and the Cowboys. Troy David Frerich, 76, of Lockhart, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2016.  Troy was born on May 14, 1940 to Andy and Agatha Frerich of String Prairie, Texas.  He was a loving husband, wonderful father, and an awesome grandpa. Troy moved to Austin and started his career in the printing business at Steck Co., which changed to Steck-Warlick, and then to Hart Graphics.  He started his 42 year career as a shipping clerk and worked most every department on up to his last title as an Account Manager.  He retired in 2001 when Hart Graphics closed their doors.  After retiring, he started ranching which he dearly loved for the last 15 years.  In that time, he taught his grandsons how to ranch by getting them involved in working cattle, fence building, and a multitude of other chores around the ranch.  Troy loved traveling.  He had a mission to visit as many states as he could.  Family vacations were a hit every summer, pulling the travel trailer to various states camping along the way and seeing the countryside.  He even got to see Alaska on his favorite cruise. Ray Cornell “Ray Ray” Sedwick, Jr., was born on Oct. 3, 1994, in Austin, Texas, to Cynthia Marie Ellis and Ray Cornell Sedwick, Sr. He slipped his mortal bonds and joined his Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 22, 2016. Ray’s most special pride was being a big brother, and he was on top of the world waiting to meet his nephew, who is expected to arrive soon. A 2013 graduate of Lockhart High School, Ray was adored by coaches, teachers and classmates alike. Voted Homecoming King his Senior year, Ray’s huge personality and warm smile were matched only by his drive to succeed and his capacity to love everyone – his mother, most of all. Charlotte Gayle Cordell of Lytton Springs, Texas was born to Joe C. and Lohma Belle Miller on September 12, 1947 and gained her wings the night of May 7. 2016. She would have been 69 this year. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Alton Cordell and her sister, Lohma Jo Ritcheson. She was an incredible woman who had won an intense battle with cancer just a few years prior. She was known for the enormous amount of love she had for her family, love of crossword puzzles, and enjoyment of her trips to town with her children and grandchildren. She always had a warm shoulder to cry on, a ready laugh and open arms.
