Ada Frances Seitter Freeman

Ada Frances Seitter Freeman, of Lockhart, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the age of 84. Frances was born in the James Walker Memorial Hospital in Wilmington NC on August 26, 1930 to William Frederick Seitter and Grace Rhodes Seitter. In 1944 Solon Gore Long became her wonderful stepfather and introduced her to the Baptist faith. Frances graduated from the New Hanover High School in 1948 and from the North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem in 1951. She practiced her profession as a registered nurse for several years before returning to school at Carson Newman College in Jefferson City Tennessee where she graduated with honors in 1959. After two years of study at the Southeaster Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forrest, North Carolina, she married Jesse Lewis Freeman Jr. of Katy, Texas. They became farmers and ranchers in Caldwell County, Texas. Frances worked for thirty years in the McMahan Church and served in the Lockhart PTA, the Lockhart Music Club, volunteer community projects and the Texas Angus Auxiliary. Jean H. Braun-Tomme

Jeanie Braun Tomme, 67, of McMahon, TX, raced through the gates of heaven July 17, 2015, after almost a year long battle with cancer. She developed a love for animals, specifically a love for horses, at an early age.  This adoration of horses grew into a life long passion which led to an exciting, dedicated, fun loving career in barrel racing as horse training.  She, to this day, holds the Gilley’s barrel racing record.  Jeanie was adventurous, jovial and absolutely whole heartedly adored life.  She easily made friends anywhere she went and those friendships blossomed over the years and to this day spoke to many of her childhood friends.  Some of the friendships established were while she was a mermaid at Aquarena Springs.  She established one such relationship that to this day is so infamous that even Larry Flynt is amazed.  Of course that is Ralph the pig.  Besides Ralph, Jeanie had Barrels of friends!  She was a jokester, she loved to laugh, she loved to sing and play the guitar.  She had all the ingredients that made up a fabulous and eventful life. Betty Louise Reed, 85, of Lockhart, Texas passed away on June 22, 2015. She was born on May 11, 1930 in Lytton Springs to Willie Thomas and Ida Mae Richburg Smith. She grew up in Lockhart and graduated from Lockhart High School in 1948. She lived in Vanderbilt area for many years before returning back to Lockhart after her husband passed away. She worked at McCurdy Funeral Home for many years starting in 1984. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 35 years, George W. Reed. Mrs. Gregoria Moreno Rodriguez was called by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to her home in heaven on June 15, 2015 at the age of 86. She was born on September 10, 1928 in McMahan, TX, to Pedro Moreno and Virginia Adame. She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 siblings, Robert Moreno, Tomasa Mendez, Felis Garza and Francisca Contreras. She married the love of her life Francisco F. Rodriguez on July 4, 1943 they were married 48 years until  death did they part in March 1991. She leaves behind Daughters: Lydia (Isidro Jr.) Amaya, Nieves (Gregorio) Briceno, Veronica (Rick) Martinez all of Lockhart and Margaret Mendez (Manuel-deceased) of Austin. Nell Roland

Nell (Hughes) Roland, 78, passed away on June 12, 2015.  She was born in Lockhart, Texas on February 20, 1937 to Johnny and Sammie Lee (Maney) Hughes. Nell made a career in caring for several Austin family’s homes and children until a stroke in the late 1980s.  She loved to travel, dance, laugh, and shop. Nell accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of St. James A.M.E. Church. Nell is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Sammie L. Hughes, her husband of 57 years William C. Roland, and two sons, Charles A. Roland and Garland D. Roland. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Elaine Roland-Head (Rueben) of Lockhart, Texas; two sons, Jerry L. Roland of Lockhart, Texas and Jason Roland (Stephaine) of San Marcos, TX; one granddaughter, Shalaina Walker (Dennis) and one great-granddaughter, Rakaia Elayne Walker of Lockhart, TX; and two sisters, Julia F. Raymond Harper Adams

Raymond Harper Adams was born in Houston, Texas to Lloyd Acker Adams and Verna Robinett Adams on November 12, 1955. He was named after two of his father’s best friends, Raymond Moore and Harper Avis. Ray grew up in West University Place, a small city enclosed inside Houston, Texas. He attended West University Elementary, Pershing Jr. High, and then Lamar High School.   Ray worked as a route salesman and delivery driver, eventually becoming a semi-truck delivery driver for construction companies, and later auto supply warehouses. In 2003 Ray married Pamela K. Williams and they resided in Houston, Texas for several years until their recent move to Luling, Texas. Ray’s passed away suddenly on May 31st, 2015 while being driven home from the hospital after a major operation.   Ray is survived by his wife Pamela and his brother Lloyd Adams, Jr. Ray’s family is originally from Richmond in Fort Bend County, Texas. Ray will be buried in the historic section of Morton Cemetery, Richmond, Texas next to his mother and father, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and great great grandparents.

He is survived by his mother, Nell Roland, one sister, Elaine Roland-Head (Rueben) of Lockhart, Texas and two brothers, Jerry L. Minnie Ella Homann-Petrosky, 85, of Lockhart Texas flew to Heaven to be with her maker on May 25, 2015.  She was born on February 1, 1930 in Mendoza Texas to Gus Carl Homann and Freida (Band) Homann.  She was one of ten children.  She attended school in Mendoza Texas and later attended Lockhart High School.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, loving husband, Leonard C. Petrosky, Brothers:  Ernest Homann, Edwin Homann, Fritz Homann, Max Homann, Gus C. Homann Jr., Emil Homann, Sisters: Freida Homann-Shirley and Melinda Homann-Petrosky and many loving sister in laws and brother in laws. Roy Gene Richardson of Lockhart, at 60 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. He was born September 2, 1954 in Beeville, TX to Charles Mangrum and Katherine Pearl Richardson. Gene was a hardworking, dedicated Christian man who loved spending time with family. He served in the Army from 1973 to 76 ending his tour in West Germany. He and Donna began their family having two sons, Justin Lee and Patrick Allen. Gene became a deacon while a member of Mineral Baptist Church at Mineral, Texas. An avid outdoorsman, Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing and cruising the beach in his Jeep. Adventurous by nature with an inventive mind, he excelled at welding, water well repair and as an elevator/escalator mechanic. Date of Birth: November 10, 1949 / Date of Death: May 1,   2015 Stephen John Kuhn, alias Bubba to his many friends, was welcomed into this world in Taylor, Texas, on November 10, 1949, by Bessie and Charles Kuhn, his youthful loving parents, and by big brother Joaquin, almost 10, big sister Pat, 5, and big sister Betty, 2. Before he was old enough to know it, our family of six moved to a farm at Brown’s Gin, south of Taylor, where as a young boy he had the freedom to range over the fields and pastures of the farm and countryside and to swim in the cattle tank. Larry Ray Schaefer, age 66, died Monday April 27, 2015 at his residence in Lockhart. He was born September 30, 1948 in Lockhart, the son of the late Nolan Schaefer and Wanda (Borchert) Schaefer. He graduated from Lockhart High School in the Class of 1967 and received his Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas University in 1971. Larry married Sherry (Saragusa) Schaefer in Lockhart on March 5, 1983. Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He also loved to participate in his local coffee club and poker club with his friends of many years. Larry was an avid sports fan and often seen supporting his favorite team, the Texas A&M Aggies. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Schaefer of Lockhart; his sons, Jordan (Danielle) Schaefer of Marble Falls, Texas and Joshua Schaefer of San Marcos, Texas; three grandchildren, Kendall, Addisyn and Paisley of Marble Falls, Texas. On April 22, 2015, Maggie Lolita Roberson, RN age 81, went to be with our Heavenly Father as an angel in his kingdom. Lolita (her preferred name) was born August 4, 1933 the eldest child of Mable Lolita Gant and Rigdon Nephi Gant.  She married Charles Edward Roberson and became a mother to four children. Lolita grew up in a different era when opportunities for women were limited, especially poor women. She worked hard all of her life, finding professional success in nursing. As a grandmother, she finished first in her class in the Licensed Vocational Nursing program. Not satisfied, she became a Registered Nurse in the twilight of her career. She loved nursing and inspired several family members to that career. She was a kind and compassionate nurse who was loved and respected by the patients she cared for over the years. Lolita loved life and lived it to the fullest; she enjoyed traveling, fishing, shopping, painting, crocheting, reading, puzzles, bingo, animals and Sandy’s Ice Cream. Clifton Baze Cavaness, 71, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Clifton was born Sept. 23, 1943, in Mason, Texas to Baze and Grace Cavaness. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Andrews; son, Craig Cavaness; and daughter, Wendy Cavaness Clemon. He leaves behind his spouse, Shirley Cavaness; son, Guy Krenz and wife, Patricia, daughter, Tina and husband, Pete Morales; son, Tom Krenz and wife, Lezlie, all of Lockhart; grandchildren: Tracie, Jessica, Emily (Lee), Abraham (Yuri), Joshua, Anne Marie, Christopher, Zachary, Adam, McKade, Shamaury, Robert, Kallie Sue and Stephanie; and great-grandchildren: Abraham, Ivan, Cheyanne and Evan.
