Kenneth Ray Crider, 60, of Dale, Texas passed away on November 28, 2016. He was born on December 23, 1955 in Monahans, Texas to Harvey Vernon and Doris Marie Butler Crider. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Samuel Hoke Crider. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathern Crippen Crider; four brothers, George W. Hazlett, James Vernon Crider, Trollis Ross Crider and Corey Clay Crider; two sisters, Merry Anne Crider and Della Faye Bennett; four nieces; nine nephews and multiple great nieces and nephews. Peggy L. Butler Duda was born July 2nd, 1936 in San Augustine County Texas.  She passed away on 11/14/16 to go to her heavenly home. Her parents were Allie V. Quinn Butler & J.D. Butler, she has 2 sisters; Joy Violet Butler Garsee and Sherby Ann Butler Ford, 4 children; Jordon A. Smith, Jennifer L. Smith Davis, Jed B. Smith, & Justin B. Smith, 3 step children; Stefanie T. Duda, Jeffrey R. Duda & Gregory M. Duda, 5 grandchildren; Lacey R. Smith Rainey, Luther L. Davis III, Heather L. Smith, Thya N. Davis Lindsey, & Desmone D. Smith;  4 step grandchildren, Katy J. Fred Hagan

Fred Hagan, 92, passed away on November 12, 2016. He was born in Monroe, La to Josie and Fred Hagan, Sr. At the age of 17, Fred joined the military and served during WWII and the Korean War. The first 9 years he served with the Navy before joining the Air Force. He retired after 27 years earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He married Vera Stephens on August 25, 1951. From this union 4 sons were born. Fred went on to become a school teacher for Lockhart ISD teaching auto mechanics. He enjoyed fishing, vacationing and working on vehicles. His wife, Vera Mae Stephens Hagan, brother, Joseph Leslie Hagan and his son, Danny Maylon Hagan have preceded him in death. Fred is survived by three sons: Fred Milton Hagan with wife Christina, Christopher Lynn Hagan and Earl Leslie Hagan with wife Karen; 6 grandchildren: Michelle Boyle, Russell Hagan, Billy Hagan, Jennifer Hagan, Billy Ray Crider and Eddie Crider; and 14 great grandchildren. Dorothy Holcomb Swartz, 91, of Luling, Texas passed away on November 3, 2016. She was born on November 10, 1924 in Lockhart, Texas to William Augustus and Annie Ophelia Holcomb. She was a member of the First Lockhart Baptist Church for over 65 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George Swartz; her brother, WA Holcomb, Jr. and her sisters, Nannie Belle Featherstone and Edwina Kelley. She is survived by her son, Mark Swartz; her caretaker niece, Teresa O’Brien; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. William Kenneth Nolte

William Kenneth Nolte, 70, of Lockhart, Texas passed away on November 1, 2016. He was born on October 28, 1946 in Lockhart, Texas to William Gus and Mary Ida Uhlig Nolte. He served as a Medic in the Army in Vietnam and Germany; also retiring after 24 years working with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He also retired after 15 years with IRS working as a Tax Analyst. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Katherine Wilson Nolte; his son, William Joseph Nolte of Lake McQueeney; his daughter, Amanda Noel Nolte of Universal City; two sisters, Peggy Allen and Janet Schafer of Lockhart; and his best friend, Jack Campbell of Lytton Springs. David Monroe Cochran

David Monroe Cochran, age 91, passed away at The Manor in Morrisville, Vermont on October 24, 2016. David was born on May 27, 1925 in Luling, Texas to David Bynum Cochran and Cleo Monroe Cochran. He graduated from Luling High School in 1942 and attended Texas A&M for one year. In 1943, David was sent to Southwest Louisiana Institute in Lafayette for U.S. Navy apprentice seaman training and then to midshipman school at Columbia University in New York City. In December 1944, David was assigned to USS-LSM (Landing Ship Medium) 427 in Philadelphia. At the age of 19, David served as Ensign and was the youngest officer on board. LSM 427 and its crew were responsible for moving U.S. troops and equipment between the Hawaiian Islands and the Philippines, and later in and around Japan.  From 1951 to 1953, David was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant during the Korean War and helped run the U.S. naval base in Newfoundland. Sarah Eloise (Gramling) Culpepper -  Red Rock, TX Born November 29, 1922 in Waukeenah, FL, the youngest of 8, to Edwin & Annie (Grantham) Gramling. She went home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2016. Sarah was predeceased by her siblings: Jewel, Napoleon, Edwin, Wesley, Preston, Josie, & Inman Gramling.  She grew up in Florida and later went to work in Georgia. Sarah married the love of her life, Roger G. Culpepper on October 21, 1944.  They had 2 sons, John (Randy) and Robert (Bobby) Culpepper, both deceased.  She is survived by daughters-in-law, Jerrie K Culpepper and Linda Culpepper and grandchildren: Bambi (Billy) Maugham, Shannon Huebner, Sandra (JoeRoy) Niemann, Dustin (Jennifer) Culpepper, Carma Parker, Teri Watts, Pamela (Rudy) Vasquez and Jess Wilson.  Grandson Jeffrey V. Norma Jeanne Kelley Howard of Dallas, Texas passed away on October 15, 2016 at the age of 90.  She was born on August 2, 1926 in Lockhart, Texas to Mary Zelma Fortune and Howard Harley Kelley. Norma grew up in Lockhart, Texas surrounded by a large and loving extended family. After graduating from Lockhart High School, she moved to Austin to attend The University of Texas.  She soon met and married her husband of 65 years, John Darvin Howard in 1948.  John and Norma had a wonderful life together, living first in several small Texas towns and then Oklahoma City, Denver, Dallas, Midland and Houston.  Norma was a very talented and creative person who spent countless hours playing the piano, sewing and mastering a number of artistic projects, all accomplished while raising her two children.  She was a very dedicated and active member of Spring Woods United Methodist Church in Houston, serving as chairwoman of the Holiday Bazaar and volunteering on many women’s committees. Sylvia M. “Jackie” Moffett, 93 passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016. Sylvia was born May 16, 1923 to George and Annie McMullen in Caldwell County, Texas. She is preceded by her husband of 63 years, James H. Moffett, daughter Shirlean Petty, son-in-law Gene Petty and grandson Jason Moffett. Sylvia is survived by her son James D. Moffett and wife Barbara, seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, cousins and friends. A limb has fallen from our family tree.  But we keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, and the laughter, remember the good life I lived while I was strong.  Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.  My mind is at ease…my soul is at rest. Remembering it all, I was truly blessed. J W Love

J W Love was born Jack Wiley Love to Bertha Lee (Joplin) Love and Jess Elmer Love on April 21st, 1950 in Round Rock, Texas. After high school, JW Joined the U. S. Army where he served in Viet Nam and other places.  He served for 8 years, then left for a short while before serving another 4.  JW was a lifetime member in the VFW. He made a carrier as a Peace Officer in Travis County.  He retired from his post as The Coordinator of Security in the Travis County Jail in 1989, due to health problems, after 18 years. J W was married to Sandra Sue Clendennen Love on the 17th of October, 2007.  Ray, long time, close friend of the family and the preacher who performed the wedding ceremony, wrote the 16th on their certificate.  No problem, though.  They just celebrated both days.  J. J W Love  also known as Jack was born in Round Rock, TX to Jess and Bertha Joplin Love on  April 21, 1950. He passed away on October 4th at the age of 66.
