William L. Steubing

William L. Steubing "Bill" was born in Nixon, Texas to William Jacob and Joyce Kilmer Steubing on October 27, 1938. He was married to his wife, Doris, on June 18, 1961.  He was preceded in death by his mother and father and is survived by his wife and four children, Sharon Wetz and husband Gary of League City, William Steubing and wife Judith of Helotes, Duane Steubing and wife Susie of College Station, and Christopher Steubing and wife Darla of Richmond. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren. He was in the banking profession for over 22 years in San Antonio, Texas where he worked a considerable amount with the farmers and youth in the surrounding area.  After banking he took on endeavors including owning and operating a business, financial operations for a construction company and ranching. He firmly believed that a hand shake meant everything and that a man was to provide for his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and all. Elijah Lee Deleon, 6, son of Zach Deleon of San Marcos and Rachel Bustamante of San Antonio was born on September 25, 2007, went to be with our Heavenly Father on April 9, 2014. He was a great big brother and son. His energetic smile will forever shine down on us.   Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name. (PSALM 103:1) Janet L. (Jonson) Hodges, 61, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2014. An active member of the First Lockhart Baptist Church, where she taught the Bible to the Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (AWANA) group and Vacation Bible School; she was also a scout leader for many years in Austin and Lockhart. She graduated from the University of Texas with a BS and MEd in education, and taught for 39 years in the Lockhart Independent School District, primarily with children with special needs. Janet is survived by her husband, Michael A. Hodges; two sons, Justin and Tristan; two brothers, William R. Jonson (Cris) of Houston and James Kevin Jonson (Carol) of Cedar Hill; one sister, Kathleen Kelley (Kevin) of Lake Ridge, VA, their families; and many wonderful friends. Holter, Linda Schulle, 97, of Lockhart, Texas passed away on April 7, 2014. She was born on March 18, 1917 in Hays County, Texas to Heinrich and Laura Schulle. Linda was a loving mother, and grandmother. As well as an avid softball player and a baseball fan. She also loved bowling and dancing.  The real joys of her life were the years spent at Westy's. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hilmar; twin baby girls; five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Smith and husband, Reine of Lockhart; two brothers, Marvin Schulle of Lockhart and Henry Lee Schulle of Houston; one sister, Mary Ann Cheatham of Lockhart; four grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Lynn Burditt Parrish

Lynn Parrish, 82, of Lytton Springs, passed away on the evening of April 4th, 2014. He was born to the late Charles Warner Parrish and Ruby Cassie Burditt Parrish, October 27, 1931, in Lockhart, Texas. Lynn attended Lockhart High School and went on to have a successful career in driving heavy equipment. He was married to Patricia Strawn Parrish on May 6th, 1956. Lynn is survived by his loving wife and three children: Patti Hammonds and husband Art, of Haslet, Karen Fincher and husband Pete, of Stephenville; and Mark Parrish and wife Melody of Lytton Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Ruby Parrish; three brothers and one sister: Sonny Parrish, Billy Parrish, Bobby Parrish and Janice Seidel. One brother and one sister survive him: Charles Parrish, of Lockhart; and Betty Parrish Whitley, of Baytown. Six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive him. Theresia Baker, 73, of Lockhart passed away on 4/2/14.  She was born on 8/28/40 in Zichydorf, Yugoslavia to her German parents Theresia and Mathias Brenner.  Her father lost his life as a German soldier in WWII leaving behind his wife and 4 children in Yugoslavia.  After surviving several different ethnic German work camps in Yugoslavia, Theresia’s mother was able to return to Germany as a refugee with her 3 surviving children. Theresia Baker worked in shoe factories until meeting her husband Otto Ehl Sr. They had 3 children together. They divorced. Theresia later married a U.S. soldier, Stewart (Pete) Roberts.  They moved to the United States in 1965 and had one daughter.  While Pete served several tours in Viet Nam, Theresia attended cosmetology school where she became a licensed beautician while raising her daughter and trying to learn English. Theresia always enjoyed dancing.  In the 1970’s she enjoyed formal ballroom dancing. In the 1980’s she took an interest in square dancing and through this love of dancing she met her late husband Carlos Baker. Theresia remained an active member in Austin’s Waterloo Squares square dance club until her diagnosis with cancer in December which left her too weak to continue ...

  Delores Rae Halm Scharschmidt passed from her earthly life to her heavenly life on Tuesday, April 1st, after a yearlong battle with leukemia. Delores was born on February 19, 1935 in Mendoza, TX to Monroe Halm and Hilda Erhlich Halm. Delores attended Austin High and was an important caregiver to her two youngest siblings. On November 13, 1954, Delores married Rudy Scharschmidt. Delores was the bookkeeper for Rudy’s Mendoza Garage and had that most important job of full time wife and mother to their three daughters. Throughout her girls' school years she was an active homeroom mother, band booster and supporter of any activities that her girls participated in. While in the Lockhart area, Delores and Rudy were active members of Trinity United Church of Christ in Niederwald. In 1983, Delores and Rudy moved to Gruene, TX, near New Braunfels, where their new church home became First Protestant Church of New Braunfels. Very active in the church’s hospitality and altar preparation ministries, Delores made many life-long friends and touched many lives.   Sarah Elizabeth Alvarez, infant daughter of Phillip and Mary Alvarez was born on October 22, 2013, went to be with our Heavenly Father on March 30, 2014. My Sarah has gone home to the Lord. My flesh wants to ask why but my spirit is rejoicing because she has gone back into your glory. I praise you Lord for the 5 months you blessed us with her.   Anna Carrasco Gutierrez passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on March 24, 2014. Anna was born on October 16, 1949 to Jesus and Eugenia Carrasco in Abilene, Texas. She grew up and spent most of her young life in Midland, Texas. She married Augustin Gutierrez on September 4, 1971 in Odessa, Texas, and from there she traveled for many years due to his line of work. After his retirement they settled in Dale, Texas in 1992. Throughout her life Anna devoted much time to her Catholic Faith including being a CCD teacher and spending nearly 20 years as secretary at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lockhart, Texas.  Anna was preceded in in death by her father, Jesus; brother Jesus Jr.; and daughter Connie Michelle. The family of Grace Smith announces the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, on Thursday, March 20th, 2014. Grace was born in The Centerpoint Community of Copiah County, Mississippi and was the oldest sister of two brothers, Frank and Tommy, and one sister, Dot, of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Dot traveled via AirDot to be with Grace for a few precious hours and has been a blessing to us all. Grace was preceded by her father and mother, Frank and Lucille, brothers, Frank and Tommy and by her beloved husband of 47 years, Winnon. Grace is survived by daughter Sandy and husband Ron, her son James W. .  Jesse V. Hernandez (Chuy) of Lockhart, retired counselor for the Lockhart Pride High School/Lockhart Junior High School, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, at the age of 64, after battling Parkinson's disease for several years. A graduate of Lockhart ISD, Jesse was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from St. Edward's University in 1977 and his graduate degree in education from Southwest Texas State University in 1991. A former member of the Lockhart Evening Lions Club, he enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking and fishing. The family deeply appreciates the wonderful care he received at West Oaks Rehab in Austin and thanks New Century Hospice for fulfilling his physical and spiritual needs. Jesse is survived by his wife of 33 years, Terry; daughter, Yssa Hernandez; granddaughter, Athena Hernandez; and sister, Rita Moreno, and her husband, Allen. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. The family invites friends to join them at a visitation at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart.
