MaryAnn Elsie Schulle VanHorn Cheatham passed away from this earth on November 14, 2014 at the age of 84 in Marble Falls, Texas after a short battle with cancer. She was born on July 25, 1930 in Maxwell, Texas. She attended the Blanco Star School and San Marcos High School. She was one of eleven children. MaryAnn lived a long, full, happy life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, bowling, going to the lake, traveling, and watching and attending games of her favorite baseball team, the Houston Astros. One accomplishment she was most proud of in her life was working as a Nursing Home Administrator at the Golden Age Home in Lockhart, Texas. MaryAnn always said she was so fortunate to have been married to two really great men. She married the late Leonard VanHorn in 1950 and the late Clarence Cheatham in 1977. She loved them both dearly. Terry Jean Carmichael Fielder

Terry Jean Carmichael Fielder passed away suddenly on November 9, 2014.  Terry was born on November 24, 1947 in Waco, Texas.  Her family moved to Austin where she graduated from Austin High School in 1965.  Terry was an avid Texas Longhorn fan, graduating from the University of Texas in 1970 with a BS in Education and earning her Masters in Education in 1984. Terry taught first grade for over 20 years in the Austin and Hays Consolidated School Districts before moving into administration.  She retired in 2012 from the position of Director of Intervention Services in Hays Consolidated ISD. Terry was an avid gardener.  She enjoyed cooking, canning her vegetables, crossword puzzles, playing scrabble and watching the Red Sox and Longhorns. Terry is survived by her husband of 30 years, James E. Fielder; her three step-daughters Patti Philippone and son-in-law David, Jennifer Meiners and son-in-law John Paul and Cassie Mitchell and son-in-law Greg; two grandsons Matthew and Kyle Mitchell; and two sisters Paula Gaudet and brother-in-law Frank, and Lisa Carmichael.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Jean Carmichael. Richard “Dick” Doores, 80, passed away on Saturday November 8th, 2014. Richard was born in Electra, Wichita County, Texas on July 17th, 1934 to Thelma Elizabeth Coffey and Howard Allen Doores. He grew up in Electra, graduated from Electra High School. He attended the University of Texas at Austin graduating with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. Richard married Doris Marilyn Haynes, his high school sweetheart. Richard’s interests were running, golf, coaching kids, and Long Horn sports. He was preceded in death by his parents Thelma and Howard Doores. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Doores; his children, Steven Doores, M.D. (from Dallas), Shauna Pollan (from Alvin), and Gale Lindsey (from Lockhart); his brothers, Robert Doores and James Doores; Grand kids, Laura Beth King, Brock Doores, Lindsey Pollan, Alex & Erin Lindsey. Etta Ruth Langham Ellis was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 1, 2014 after a long and wonderful life. She was 94 years old. Ruth called Reedville, Texas her home for 76 years. For the last 3 years Ruth resided at Buckner Villas in Austin, Texas. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Ruth was a lifelong, faithful member of the Martindale Baptist Church. She also was a member of Hermann's Sons, the Maxwell Social Club and The Birthday Club. Other than her family, Ruth's greatest joys were camping, bird watching, wildflowers, traveling, country music and dancing. Ruth was born on January 30, 1920 in Robstown, Texas, to Ella Cook Poole and L.T. Poole. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her son Thomas G. William (Bill) Duane Atwell Sr. age 87, of Lockhart, Texas, passed away on 11/01/2014 of Pneumonia. He was born on May 7, 1927 in Lumber Camp Four, Michigan to Mary Kinder Atwell and William Hiram Atwell. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mavis (Dot) Bates Atwell, his son Paul B. Atwell, his sisters Wilba Davies, Helen Barber, Bessie Hartin, Dorothy Fairbotham, and his half-brother Jack Rayment. He is survived by his son William D. Atwell Jr, daughter-in-law, Lee Anne of Austin, and his daughter Elizabeth Diane Knauss and son-in -law David of Lockhart. Vernon Evans Webb, Sr. of Lytton Springs, Texas passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the age of 83. He is preceded in death by wife Betty Jo Heaton Webb, parents Thomas and Alma Webb, brother Carroll Webb, grandson Tommy Wheeler and great-grandson Evan Oltman. Born at home in the country, his roots started and ended where he loved it best. He received Christ at 19 years old at the Lytton Springs Baptist Church and was baptized in the holy water of a neighboring stock pond. Served in the US Army 1951-1953, being stationed in Germany, and there he learned to play his loved guitar. Music became a big part of his life joining his wife and friends to create their own band - even made a few records for their personal entertainment. Luis T. Gomez, Sr. “PoPo” was called home on October 25, 2014 at the age of 73. He was born in Martindale to Donicio and Primativa Gomez. “PoPo” was one of the original Truck drivers for Lauren Concrete and worked for 20 years at Centex Ready Mix. PoPo always loved talking about how much concrete he poured in Austin. He enjoyed watching football and baseball and was a dedicated Cowboys and New York Yankees fan. PoPo enjoyed his family, friends, has also experienced life to the fullest and enjoyed dancing. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Donald and Jerry; two brothers; and one, sister. James Michael Stone, 69, of Lockhart, went to his eternal rest on Oct. 8, 2014. He was born in Austin, Texas, on Dec. 8, 1944, to James Lamar and Janie Elizabeth (nee Long) Stone. Mike attended Lockhart schools for most of his life, moving to Buda and graduating from Buda High School in 1963. He attended Southwest Texas State University, graduating with a degree in Economics in 1968. It was at SWTSU that he met Gwendylon Doss, who he married on July 28, 1967. For more than 30 years, Mike was a transport driver for Exxon Mobil. After his retirement from Exxon Mobil, he worked for the Chuck Nash automotive group in San Marcos. Known as a quiet man of deep thoughts, Mike spent most of his time driving his truck throughout Central Texas. He used that love of driving in his career, having been recognized by Exxon Mobil for driving more than 2 million miles without lost time or a preventable accident. Tommy Finfrock peacefully passed away at home on Oct.3, 2014 in the presence of his family. He was born in Houston on Jan. 30, 1934, to Jean Paul Finfrock and the former Blanche Josephine Kennedy.  Upon graduation from high school he was awarded a full scholarship to Texas A&M to study agriculture, where he formed many lifelong friendships while earning a degree in Dairy Husbandry as a member of the Class of ‘56. On trips to Lockhart, his aunt, Mildred Mohle arranged for him to drive her to the farm of H.F. “Hank” Fortman to get some vegetables, where she made sure that he met a pretty young girl named Wilma Fortman. They were married just over a year later on June 9, 1956, and they remained side by side until his death. After spending two years in the Army, they returned to Lockhart and operated a retail nursery until 1971 and then a wholesale nursery until 2005.  Tommy served as a lay minister and Sunday School teacher over the years at the First Lockhart Baptist Church, Clearfork Baptist Church, Dale Baptist Church, and Fentress Baptist Church. It is with heavy heart that we say goodbye to Dr. J. Tom Connolly. Tom passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday evening, Sept. 28, 2014. Born March 13, 1933 to James Edward and Jessie Mary McMillan Connolly, Tom grew up and spent much of his adult life in Lockhart. Upon graduation from Lockhart High School, he attended Texas A&M University (Class or '55) and completed his formal education at Baylor University College of Medicine. Dr. Tom, as he became known to so many, was a shining example of a servant's heart. Choosing a professional life of service as a physician, he began by serving his country as a Lieutenant Commander Intern in the United States Navy. He returned to Lockhart to build his private practice of 35 years. Although he closed his practice in Lockhart, he continued his professional service in a variety of medical roles. Tom served his community throughout the course of his life in numerous capacities, including tenured position on the Board of Directors of Lockhart National Bank, Member of Lockhart ISD School Board, medical physician for Lockhart High School football program, various committees at First United Methodist Church of Lockhart, and coaching his children's sports teams. Leona Charlotte Kenney went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2014.  She was born in Fashing, Texas on July 13, 1930. Leona is preceded in death by her husband, William H. Kenney, her parents, Hubert and Elizabeth Henke, brother, Hubert F. Henke, sister, Margaret Jarzombek, son-in-law, Robert Dembowski, and grandson, Brandon Kenney. Leona is survived by her daughter Denise Dembowski, son Ernest Kenney and wife Kathy, son Patrick Kenney and wife Frieda Jones, daughter Patricia Kenney and husband Frank Tello, daughter Amy Kenney and partner Oscar Rojas, son Wayne Kenney and wife Mary, sister, Irene Bodden, brother Alvin Henke and wife Mary Ann. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Shane, Jamie, Ben, Andrew, Lauren, Ashlee, Cameron, Dylan and Thomas, five great-grandchildren and other loving family members.
