Edith Lorene “Dinkey” Booth, age 87, left this world on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. Dinkey passed away at her home in Combine surrounded by loved ones. Dinkey was born in San Marcos, Texas on December 6, 1925 to Homer and Hattie Hamilton. She attended Texas State Teachers’ College, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Education in 1952. Early on, Dinkey pursued a teaching career. Eventually she settled in Dallas, as a mother and homemaker. Later, after raising her children, she further pursued her teaching career. Dinkey enjoyed her retirement years in Combine; spending time with family and friends.
Dinkey is survived by her children, Cynthia Booth and husband, Brooks, of Combine; Lee Booth of Dallas; Shirley Hollywood and husband, Steve, of Combine; Peggy Knight and husband, Tom, of Dallas; and Clay Booth and wife, Sharon, of Dallas. Dinkey’s quick wit and charm always enriched any family gathering. Whenever she spoke of her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren there was a distinctive sparkle in her eyes. They were her pride and joy! Our Dinkey will certainly be missed by all that knew and loved her!
Services for Dinkey will be held on Wednesday, January 30th at 10:00 am at The Chapel at San Marcos Cemetery in San Marcos, Texas.
