Florence Alynne Dunkin Bingham

Florence passed away on Sunday, August 5th after a short illness. She was born in Bastrop, Texas to Tabitha and William Dunkin on January 31, 1923.

She attended schools in Bastrop where she graduated high school in 1941. She attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos and graduated in 1946 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught school in the Houston area for eight years.

She married Robert J. (Buddy) Bingham on June 13, 1953. After they were married Buddy was deployed to Okanawa, Japan where Florence taught school on Base for several years. During this time in Japan they suffered the loss of their first child, Richard Allen. After returning to the States they were stationed at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston. Their son Timothy Wayne was born, and a few years later their daughter Debra Lynn was welcomed to the family.

After 22 years in the Air Force Buddy retired and the family returned to San Marcos. Florence also decided to retire from teaching to stay at home with the children.

Florence is survived by her son and daughter in law Timothy and Donna Bingham, Her daughter and son-in-law Debra and Gary McBryde. Four grandchildren, Wayne and Amber Bingham, and Stefan and Hannah Hoffmann.

Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home, 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 8, 2012. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 9, 2012, in the Pennington Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff English officiating. Private interment.
