Josephine Springmeyer PicJosephine Katherine Spevak Springmeyer died peacefully in San Marcos on March 13, 2017.  She was born on February 3, 1922 in Wheatland, Wyoming to Louis and Josephine Spevak.  Her brothers were Louis, Edward and Frank.  Her sisters were Betty, Rosa and Marie.  Josephine graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in education.  Her passion for education led to a 40 year career as a teacher starting in Wyoming, taking her to Idaho, Alaska, Okinawa, the Philippines and Virginia before coming to Howard Elementary in Alamo Heights where she retired in 1984.  Josephine met her husband Clifford Eugene Springmeyer in Anchorage, Alaska marrying on January 31, 1953.

Josephine is survived by three children, Denise, Rosalyn and Stephen.  She is also survived by six grandchildren, Michelle, Pamela, Daniel, Diva, Monet and Remy and four great-grandchildren.

Josephine will be remembered as a dedicated educator, avid bridge player, loving mother and grandmother.  She will be dearly missed.

There will be a service held for Josephine in San Antonio at 9:00 am on Friday, March 17, 2017at St. Anthony of Padua Church.

    I want to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Josephine Spevak Springmeyer. I was saddened to hear of her passing. Although I hadn’t seen her since I was very young I still thought of her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Brad Spevak
