Nancy Harris Biggs, age 80, of San Marcos, TX, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, passed away on January 23, 2017, at Seton Medical Center in Austin, TX. She was born on September 4, 1936 in Groveton, TX to Jess Paul and Martha Pearl Lewellen.
Nancy grew up in Hempstead, TX and graduated from Hempstead High School in 1955.
Nancy twice blessed beyond words, married Ray Harris, her best friend and love of her life, in Hempstead, TX at the First Baptist Church in 1955. In 2009 a blessing from God, Nancy married Boyd Biggs at Calvary Baptist Church in San Marcos, TX, adding to her family, a daughter, Trish Randow and son-in-law, Ralph along with a granddaughter, Lisa Dowdy. They were married for eight years.
Nancy volunteered at CTMC for over 30 years; a job she loved as she is such a social butterfly and gave so much love and encouragement to all she met. In 2004 Nancy was nominated for the San Marcos Women’s Hall of Fame; what a perfect nomination for this lady.
She also volunteered at the tourist center in San Marcos for many years with her husband Boyd. Nancy was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church for over 40 years – her favorite place to be!! Most of all, Nancy was a devoted wife and mother at which she did a superb job.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Boyd Biggs of San Marcos; her children, David Harris of Amarillo, Cindy Johnson (Larry) of New Braunfels, Juli Hinze (Gary) of New Braunfels, Royger Harris (Megan) of Hutto, and Trish Randow (Ralph) of San Marcos; best friends in life, her sisters, Imogene Hawkins of Hempstead and Paula Harris (Roy) of Pleasanton.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sharon Doring (Nathan) of San Marcos, Richard Meier of San Marcos, Roger Meier of New Braunfels, Joshua Hinze of New Braunfel, Ransom Harris of Hutto, Kolton Harris of Hutto, Weston Harris of Hutto, and a baby girl on the way, Raelynne; great-grandchildren, Emalyn Doring, Braden Doring, Brooklyn Doring, Kathryn Susan Doring, and Lisa Doudy all of San Marcos; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Jess Paul and Martha Pearl Lewellen, her husband of 50 years, Ray Harris, sister, Trudy Wendt, and granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Hinze and Madison Lewellen Harris.
Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home, 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 25. A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 26, in the Pennington Funeral Home Chapel in San Marcos, with the Rev. Dennis Spire officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.
