Vera Carmel Brown
Carmel Brown, 91 of Boerne passed away August 13, 2010 at Cibolo Creek Nursing Home. She was born May 18, 1919 in Batson, Texas Willie Almer and Minnie Alma (Vanya) Pinckard.
Carmel spent most of her life in Mont Belvieu, Texas. She graduated from Barbers Hill High School where she met her husband, Delno of 73 years. Carmel loved sports. She played basketball and tennis in high school and continued playing tennis until she was 80. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in various sports and spent many hours cheering them on and she attended as many of their events as she could. The role she took in the various ministries of the churches she attended was more than mere involvement, it was her life blood. The highlight of her later years was teaching The Encouragers Class at Westover Baptist Church. Carmel also enjoyed sewing , oil painting and quilting.
Carmel is survived by her husband, Delno Brown of Boerne and three children, Susie Love and husband, Jim of Fair Oaks Ranch, Glenda Brown and husband, Lloyd of Kendalia, David Brown and wife, Melody of Weatherford, nine grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Carmel’s life will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, August 16 at Westover Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Latham officiating. Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 17 at Methodist Cemetery in Mont Belvieu, Texas.
